Why I Left Corporate Life to Study Nutritional Therapy

For most of my adult life, I was a proud corporate woman. I spent 18 years at the same company, growing my career, leading teams, and thriving in a fast-paced environment that rewarded results. I met incredible people (including my husband!), traveled, and learned more than I could have ever imagined when I started as a young professional. I was proud of what I built.

But somewhere along the way, something shifted.

It started as a whisper—a quiet inner voice nudging me to slow down, to ask deeper questions, to tune into how I was feeling, not just what I was producing. I began to notice how many people around me—friends, family, colleagues—were burned out, struggling with energy, mood, digestion, sleep, and vague symptoms they couldn’t quite explain. And I saw myself in that, too.

So I started learning. First out of curiosity, then out of passion. I devoured podcasts and books, swapped recipes with my mom, started meal prepping with intention, and became fascinated by the body’s ability to heal when given the right support. The more I learned, the more I realized: this is what I want to do. I want to help people feel better in their bodies. I want to be the person I wish I had during those years of pushing through and ignoring my own symptoms.

Leaving a steady job after 18 years wasn’t easy. It was emotional, and scary, and also deeply clarifying. I realized that success isn’t just about titles or stability—it’s about alignment. And I was ready to align my work with what I value most: health, presence, connection, and purpose.

Today, I’m studying to become a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (NTP), and I’m building Ashley Baber Wellness from the ground up. I believe that food, rest, movement, and mindset are powerful tools for healing. I believe that we are not meant to suffer through chronic symptoms or accept burnout as normal. And I believe that people deserve support that looks at the whole picture, not just the symptoms.

This is just the beginning, but I’m so excited to share what I learn along the way. If you’ve ever felt like something’s missing, like you’re meant to feel better, live slower, or show up more fully in your life—you’re not alone.
